World War I Maxim #4605

8mm belt-fed World War I Maxim manufactured in 1918 by Spandau Arsenal, serial #4605 is a very fine example of the MG 08/15 watercooled Maxim machine gun. This gun is in excellent condition with much original bluing remaining! In addition, you can see specks of the camouflage painting still on the gun. Soldiers applied camouflage painting in the field to make their guns less visible.

If you want an enjoyable, economical machine gun to shoot, this perfectly fullfills your machine gun dreams. It shoots at a reasonable rate, much slower than the MG-42. Every part is machined to the highest quality and it is a true piece of history used in both World War I and World War II. 4605 appears all matching except the fussee spring cover, the buttstock and the lock.

Water coded Maxim machineguns can be fired either with water or dry. Just remember, when firing dry, shoot short bursts and let it cool down every so often. If you want to shoot one hundred round "bursts" or a full belt all at once, use packing string and put water in the jacket.

Reproduction bipod upper attachment brackets are available for $95.00 from several sources. These can be welded to a variety of tripods or mounts to give real versatility to your shooting stance. Also www.blackrivermilitaris.com sells spade grip assemblies for the 08|15 Maxim.

Remarkably, the barrel has the matching serial number as does the drum bracket and the steam port cover. These are extraordinary in that the chances of having all three of these parts matching are probably 1 in 1,000. Comes with the original bipod plus a reproduction carrying strap and an original cloth belt. (I recommend purchasing the steel belts from IMA for more practical and enjoyable shooting.
