When the Brits decided to make a portable machinegun to compete with the American BAR,
they looked to Czechoslovakia and its ZB26. Actually marked on the gun as the
CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA, AKCLOV'A SPOLECNOST BRNO, LEHKY KULOMET ZB VZ.26., the
ZB was used in 24 countries throughout the world. Outdoing the BAR, it has a quickly
removable barrel and is chambered for the economical and abundant 8mm Mauser cartridge.
The Chinese purchased a quantity of ZB26 machineguns from the Czechs, later manufacturing
their own. Some of the early Chinese purchases were captured by the Japanese during their
invasion of China. THIS ACTUAL MACHINE GUN WAS CAPTURED AT THE BATTLE OF MYITKYINA, BURMA
(now Myanmar) when the US attacked Myitkyna Airfield in April, 1944, defeating the Japanese
who had previously taken the airfield from the British. To read about the battle, go to:
http://gardnerworld.com/cbi/myitkyina.htm This gun was brought back by an American pilot
in the 426th or 427th Night Fighter Squadron who flew the Northrop P61 Black Widow Night
Fighter in Burma. A letter of verification accompanies this historic firearm. The pilot
kept his war trophy in a trunk and never registered it, so the receiver was carefully cut,
behind the side-mounted rear sight, and before 1986 manufactured into a fully-transferable
gun. The weld is almost invisible. See pictures or ask for high resolution pics to be sent
to you. Comes with three magazines, extra barrel, extra buttstock and pistol grip assembly,
complete gunners kit in original canvas bag, loading tool in original canvas bag, and other parts.
We all have historic weapons, but their personal history has been lost to time or carelessness.
This is an opportunity to own a documented piece of American war history and also enjoy economical shooting.
