Maxim 08/15 belt-fed 8mm machine gun. This is the portable heavy machine gun used so effectively by the Germans in both WWI and WWII. This watercooled machine gun comes with an original 50 round drum, original drum bracket, original bipod and original steam port cover. Beware: most 08/15 Maxims have numerous reproduction parts. This one is original. The only reproduction part is the steam hose! Manufactured by Gewehrfabrik in Erfurt in 1918. Most serial numbers match and the overall condition is excellent. For decades, this Maxim was part of the personal collection of a meticulous owner. Thus it is unusually well cared for. Canvas waterjacket cover as shown in the picture was added by the former owner ala the British Vickers, to make the gun easier to handle when it is hot. A real gem for anyone's collection.
